Richard Julin is Deputy Director and Chief Curator at Magasin 3. Over the past 10 years he has been responsible for a number of key exhibitions. RJ has presented exhibitions of the works of Mona Hatoum, Tino Sehgal and Tal R to name but a few. During the installation of Pipilotti Rist’s exhibition Magasin 3 was turned into a music and film studio for the production of ”Gravity, Be My Friend”. Some years before, Lara Schnitger made a vinyl record, and for two summers RJ arranged for the music club ”Trollet” to be based at Magasin 3 Projekt. Charles Long, Tony Oursler and DJ Spooky all made CDs as a part of their work for Magasin 3. Somehow music tends to be involved when it comes to RJ’s exhibitions. In 2009 he made the audience very happy when he invited Leah Singer and Lee Ranaldo, one of the founders of Sonic Youth, to play at the opening of the exhibition ”iloveyouihateyou”.
