The newly designed lobby at Magasin 3 offers space for reflection and dialogue relating to the ongoing and previous exhibitions at Magasin 3, also including the Collection. The range of ideas presented here come from the exhibitions, but also from the artists, the visitors and others participating in Magasin 3 as a leading institution for contemporary art in Sweden. During the autumn of 2006, we presented a program including films about Kimsooja, Lynne Stewart and Paul Chan, Henry Darger, Charles and Ray Eames; an audioguide with Gunnel Wåhlstrand, and a range of lectures and discussions. We have also made our reference library with over 2000 titles on art, design and architecture available to our visitors. The new lobby is our way of giving our visitors a warm welcome to Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall.
The lobby was was redesigned and rebuilt during an intensive three month period by the architect John Robert Nilsson and Westerlunds building consultancy. Sara Källström, who is responsible for the events and educational program, is also in charge of the library and café. The new lobby was launched in tandem with the opening of the exhibitions by Kimsooja and Gunnel Wåhlstrand, on the 30th September 2006.
