Sedan hösten 2011 visar vi i två av salarna årligen verk från samlingen. Dessa utställningar ger återblickar och reflektioner kring konstnärskap som Magasin 3 har följt och visat i tidigare sammanhang. Something Turned Into a Thing är en utställning som utgår från egenskaperna hos verkens material och hur dessa uppfattas av våra sinnen och vårt intellekt.

Konstnärerna i utställningen tar fragment från den urbana miljön eller hemmets bekanta vrå och hittar nya sätt att se och tänka kring dem. Eller förlitar sig helt på en idé som det bärande uttrycket i konstverket. Med ett ofta lekfullt, ohämmat och kompromisslöst förhållningssätt lyfts objekt, företeelser eller ord ut från dess invanda användningsområde och öppnas upp för en större variation av tolkning. John Chamberlains intrikata verk av ihoptryckta bildelar, Agnes Martins geometriska rutmönster i nedtonad färgskala på duk, Wim Delvoyes avloppsrör på porslinsstöttor och Tom Friedmans tandkrämsmålning står sida vid sida i denna utställning. Det är orden i Lawrence Weiners verk Catalogue #1029 som har gett utställningen sin titel. Han har i decennier arbetat med språk i sina verk för att mer övergripande kunna ägna sig åt och få till stånd samtal kring tingen och vår relation till dem.

Verken spänner över hela Magasin 3:s historia, från invigningsutställningen 1988, till installationer som skapats specifikt för våra salar och även några av de allra nyaste tillskotten till samlingen.

Till utställningens andra säsong har Janine Antoni producerat en förlängning av sitt verk Moor. Repet skapades ursprungligen för utställningen ”Free Port” (2001) på Magasin 3 och består av ihopflätade föremål som katthår, spetsar, simglasögon och skosnören. Konstverket är i ständig förändring och inför varje gång repet ställs ut förlängs det ytterligare. Se nedan för en lista med urval av det material som Janine Antoni har använt i ”Moor”. *
