Gil Marco Shani

Gil Marco Shani was born in 1968 in Tel Aviv, where he also lives and works. Shani has studied at The Slade School of Fine Art, London (1995–1996) and AFPIC School of Shoe Design, Paris (1998–1999), in 1994 he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem.

Selected solo exhibitions include The Israel Museum, Jerusalem (2018); Tel Aviv Museum of Modern Art (2009); Forde Geneva (2009); Art Focus Israeli Art Biennale Jerusalem (2003); and Helena Rubinstein Pavilion for Contemporary Art Tel Aviv (2001). Group exhibitions include Mishkan Museum of Art, Ein Harod (2017); Givon Art Gallery, Tel Aviv (2016); Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall (2014); and The Israel Museum, Jerusalem (2011).

He has been honored with a number of prizes and grants including the Outset Israel grant (2017); Nathan Gottesdiener Foundation Israeli Art Prize, Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2008); The Schmuel Givon Prize, Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2005); and the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship (2004).
