The opening exhibition at Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall presents five American artists who are represented through two works each. The works consist of traditional materials such as bronze, wood and metal; but each is characterized by the artist’s own relationship with sculpture as medium and concept. The artists were all born between 1947 and 1949, and belong to the New York School – a group of painters and sculptors spread over two or three generations in post-war America. Another thing the five have in common is that they found their individual style of sculpture through their involvement with painting and a distancing from minimalism.
